reaktive Concrete Surface Deactivator
– only for top-surface (positive) applications
– water-based, ideal for pavers, blocks, bricks, columns...
Product Description:
CSE® Deactivator„solotop VP“ is a sprayable surface-deactivator for the production of exposed aggregate concrete surfaces in the positive (top-surface-) application. This new CSE® “solotop VP” formulation now contains a new, even more reliable complex of active ingredients as part of an optimized product formula. The main innovation is related to the replacement of the formerly used acid-based active ingredients. This results in a number of advantages:
1. An almost complete elimination of odor resp. acid-smell during spray-applications, which contributes very positively to aspects of labour environment and motivation.
2. By using acid-free components, the spraying devices will perform longer and better, because corrosion of metal parts is stopped, which also relates to other metal structures around the work place.
3. With the new formula, the wash-out procedure will be completed easier and faster, which results in significant labour time savings, especially during larger volume production series.
4. The new formula has improved storage characteristics and supports higher quality control and procedure aspects.
Product characteristics:
- solvent-free formulation
- acid-free formulation
- active ingredient based on deactivator-technology
- fast drying
- colour coded
- very reliable
- easy to spray
- excellent performance
Product Advantages:
- helps to achieve very reliable exposure depth results
- helps to achieve very uniformly exposed surfaces
- can be used even under extreme temperature conditions
- can be applied easily and at low coverage rate
- almost no odour during application
- no harmful ingredients in formulation
- allows rapid concrete surface wash-out
- CSE-Deactivators perform reliably even under difficult
application conditions, even where other products often fail.
Please note, that these are only guidelines, because the final exposure-depth is not only controlled by the chosen type of CSE® Deactivator, but also effected, for example, by the amount of cement and sand, by the type of cement (grey/ white or fast-setting/slow-setting), by the water-cement-ratio, by the washout-periods etc.
Instructions for top-surface (positive) application:
Prior to spraying the CSE® Deactivator the concrete surface must be smoothened, should be fresh, free of excess surface water and free of any segregations. The choice of the right type of CSE® Deactivator for each individual case should be made through trials. The test samples should be produced according to the exact production reality regarding the mixture of the concrete, production course and time, thickness of the panel and the resulting setting temperature. The concrete mixture and consistency must rule out the possibility of segregations and of the concrete setting too quickly. CSE® Deactivator must be agitated thoroughly with an electric drill before use. The CSE® Deactivator should be carefully sprayed onto the fresh concrete surface, taking care to cover the surface thoroughly and evenly. It is not necessary to cover the sprayed surface, but it can be beneficial under certain weather conditions. HEBAU technical support staff use airless-spray-guns with tip/nozzle size of between approx. 1.2 and 2.5, but also other spraying devices can be used, as long as a uniform and rich spray coat can be achieved without adding high-pressure, temperature or fine filters to the spraying cycle. A spraying device, which creates a too fine mist, should be adjusted accordingly. Under certain parameters (high temperatures, fast setting concrete …) it is recommended to cover the concrete surface then with a plastic curing sheet until wash-out of the surface. Should the application of such curing protection not be possible, please consider to use CSE® Deactivator version “multitop” as a 2-in-1 product. The initial setting of the concrete should not start earlier than 45 - 50 minutes after vibration resp. after the concrete has been placed and smoothened. All positive data determined in the trials should be transferred to the production process as exactly as possible. Larger changes to the established optimal production process, which cannot be avoided technically, can be compensated for by using a different type of CSE® Deactivator or by changing the course of production or the mix design.
Wash-out:
Washing normally takes place within 24 hours after application. However it can also be carried out earlier or later, but must be tested in pilot trials, which represent original production parameters. It is very important to keep the same washoutrhythm once started and during a coherent line of products. However this washing-rhythm might have to be adjusted, if the outside temperatures change considerably. The most efficient way of washing the surface is with a high-pressure water-jet. If the CSE® Deactivator is applied appropriately and according to the recommendations given in this data sheet, no traces of the active ingredients of the CSE® Deactivator should be found in the wash-off water, as the active ingredients should be completely used up during the reaction with the concrete.
